Paphnutius, bisschop in de Thebaïs in Boven-Egypte
(gestorven ca. 360). Tijdens de vervolging van
Maximinus
Daia (310-313) werd hij gemarteld. Op het
concilie van Nicea
(325) genoot hij hoge achting
vanwege zijn standvastigheid in de vervolging.
